Pass master Jorginho
When Maurizio Sarri decided he needed a new set of wheels in his midfield, the new Chelsea boss got himself a Rolls Royce. Jorginho continued his composed and classy start to life in a Blues shirt by completing 158 passes against Newcastle on Sunday - 27 more than the whole of the Magpies team combined. Rafa Benitez's men sat deep and barely ventured out of their own half at St James' Park, but that being said, you would not expect one man to see as much of the ball as the Italian did. This is the Premier League after all. However, while the numbers from this weekend may seem astonishing, Jorginho is far from a one-trick pony. The former Napoli midfielder has completed the most passes of any player in the entire Premier League so far, with 311 - 71 more than Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk in second place.

Mourinho crumbles to a career low at home
Man United's 3-0 defeat by Tottenham at Old Trafford was no surprise to former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton, who said the club "are no longer feared" by visiting sides. And the numbers do not tell a pretty story. This was Mourinho's worst ever home defeat in any competition as a manager. Mourinho has lost two of his first three league games for the first time in his career. This was United's biggest top-flight loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford since a 4-1 defeat in October 1972. Spurs condemned United to their 50th home defeat in the Premier League, but 32% of those have come since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for United fans? Well, the last time the club lost two of their opening three Premier League games, in 1992-93, they went on to win the inaugural competition. Over to you, Jose.

Hugo Lloris: Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino backs goalkeeper after drink-driving charge
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said he "never considered" stripping goalkeeper Hugo Lloris of the captaincy or dropping him after he was charged with drink driving. France international Lloris, 31, was stopped by police in London in the early hours of Friday. He played in Spurs' 3-0 Premier League win at Manchester United on Monday. "Hugo knows he made a big mistake. We will support him, knowing it cannot be justified," said Pochettino. "He has apologised to fans, us, the whole country. He is punishing himself. He feels so bad."

Tottenham maintained their 100% start to the Premier League season and increased the pressure on beleaguered Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho with an emphatic victory at Old Trafford.
Mourinho was hoping United would bounce back from an abysmal display in defeat at Brighton, but Spurs ran out easy winners once Harry Kane and Lucas Moura struck twice in the space of two minutes early in the second half. United were left to rue Romelu Lukaku's missed chance when he rounded Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris from Danny Rose's backpass, but they ended well beaten to make this their worst start to a league season since 1992-93. Spurs were simply too good for United after the break and the contest was effectively over once Kane directed in a superb header for his first goal at Old Trafford after 50 minutes and Moura swiftly swept home Christian Eriksen's perfect pass for the second. The outstanding Moura raced clear to add the third six minutes from time to make it nine points from nine for Spurs. Mourinho was a dejected figure amid a sea of empty red seats at the final whistle, having lost two of his opening three Premier League games for the first time in his career. Counterpart Mauricio Pochettino, in contrast, was able celebrate his first victory as Spurs manager at Old Trafford after four straight losses without scoring a goal.

Man Utd: Jose Mourinho gets board's backing, club not considering Zinedine Zidane
Manager Jose Mourinho retains the full backing of Manchester United's board despite Sunday's 3-2 Premier League defeat at Brighton. The result and performance has attracted widespread criticism. Mourinho is the favourite to be the next Premier League boss to leave his job, with suggestions that former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is being considered as a potential replacement. A United source said: "Why would we discuss Zidane when there is no job?" Mourinho was disappointed by the failure to make more outfield signings during the summer transfer window beyond Brazil midfielder Fred and teenage full-back Diogo Dalot, who is injured. He wanted additional cover in central defence and an alternative to Anthony Martial out wide. However, in both instances, the United board felt there was no worthwhile signing available.

Kenedy: Newcastle midfielder avoids ban for Cardiff kick
Newcastle United's on-loan midfielder Kenedy will not serve a ban for kicking out at Cardiff's Victor Camarasa in their Premier League draw on Saturday. The Brazilian, 22, looked to kick Camarasa off the ball and it appeared to be missed by referee Craig Pawson. After the game, Cardiff boss Neil Warnock said the challenge should have resulted in a "straight red card". But the Football Association said a free-kick was awarded, so it considers the matter dealt with. Its independent panel can only issue retrospective bans for incidents that were missed at the time. Kenedy, who is on a season-long loan at St James' Park from Chelsea, had a day to forget in the 0-0 draw at Cardiff City Stadium. He failed to complete a pass in the first half of the game - the first player to achieve that statistic for eight years - then missed a penalty in stoppage time.
