Antonio Conte: Chelsea sack Italian after two years in charge
Chelsea have sacked manager Antonio Conte after two years in charge. The 48-year-old Italian, who returned to pre-season training this week, had one year remaining on his contract. Conte won the Premier League in his first season and the FA Cup in May, but the team finished fifth in the league last season, missing out on Champions League qualification. Ex-Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is expected to succeed his compatriot at Stamford Bridge. Should Sarri be appointed, he would be Chelsea's ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003. During three years with Napoli, Sarri did not win a major honour but guided the club to second, third and second again - behind Juventus in 2017-18. The former Empoli manager was named Serie A Coach of the Year in 2016-17. Chelsea announced on Friday that Conte had "parted company" with the club. A 61-word statement ended: "We wish Antonio every success in his future career." For the sixth time in eight seasons the Premier League's title-winning manager has left his job by the following summer - if not earlier. Conte has a clause in his contract that guarantees him a pay-off, thought to be

However, Rochdale say they will use the services of a consultant chief executive during Green's absence, if required.

James McClean: West Brom midfielder refuses to attend training camp
West Brom and Republic of Ireland midfielder James McClean will face "internal disciplinary proceedings" after he refused to attend the club's four-day training camp in Scotland. McClean, 29, has made 99 appearances in three seasons with the Baggies. The Championship side said he "failed to report without permission". Last month goalkeeper Ben Foster, who has since joined Watford, and defender Craig Dawson were fined for not going on a pre-season tour to Portugal. "Another disruption for new boss Darren Moore" - Analysis BBC WM sport reporter Rob Gurney: "So James McClean follows the stance adopted by Foster and Dawson earlier in the summer, and refuses to go on a pre-season training camp. "Foster got a move to Watford, and there's nothing to suggest McClean won't go to Stoke, as has been widely reported. "Ironically, Dawson has been given permission to miss this trip as he's just become a father. "But it's another disruption to plans for the new season that new Baggies' boss Darren Moore could have done without. "And the professionalism of those players involved, or lack of it, has to be called into question, too."

Ademola Lookman: RB Leipzig want permanent return for Everton forward
RB Leipzig want to sign Everton's England Under-21 forward Ademola Lookman on a permanent deal. Lookman, 20, ended last season on loan with the German Bundesliga club, scoring five goals in 11 league games. Leipzig announced on Monday that sporting director Ralf Rangnick will be head coach for 2018-19. And when asked about possible signings, Rangnick said: "We're still in talks over Ademola Lookman. We want him back and he wants to come." Having initially been against sending Lookman out on loan last January, Everton's then-manager Sam Allardyce changed his mind, favouring a short-term deal with a Championship club. 'Stubborn Lookman got his own way' Lookman scores in final RB Leipzig game But Lookman joined Leipzig until the end of the season, with Allardyce saying it was "one of the most unusual situations I've been in". He added: "His stubbornness meant he got his own way. I hope he proves us all wrong." Lookman went on to make seven league starts, three more than he has managed at Everton since making an
