Brighton edged closer to Premier League safety with a hard-earned point against a much-changed Tottenham side.
Harry Kane's 26th league goal of the season, following Gaetan Bong's error, put Spurs in sight of an 11th away win. But Brighton were behind for just two minutes before Pascal Gross levelled with an excellent penalty after Serge Aurier had caught Jose Izquierdo. The Seagulls are without a win in six games but are eight points above the relegation zone with four games left. Spurs almost won it through an own goal when Shane Duffy deflected Christian Eriksen's cross a fraction wide.

Dejan Lovren: Liverpool defender shouted at team-mates to 'wake up' at half-time
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren says he found himself shouting at his team-mates to "wake up" as they trailed Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League quarter-final second leg. Liverpool responded to win 2-1 at Etihad Stadium and 5-1 on aggregate. But Lovren, who hopes to avoid Real Madrid in the last four, says it fell to him to remind the Reds at half-time there was a semi-final place at stake. "To be honest I was shouting a bit at half-time," said the 28-year-old. "I told the lads to wake up because it was not good enough and I said we were sitting too deep. "I needed to remind the guys that we had 50 minutes to be in the semi-finals of the Champions League and we needed to give more."

Liverpool: 'We can beat anyone', says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says two wins over Manchester City in a week shows they can "beat anyone". Jurgen Klopp's side won 5-1 on aggregate after a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday in the Champions League quarter-final. Defending champions Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Roma join Liverpool in Friday's semi-final draw. "Whoever we get in the next round it doesn't matter," he said. "This is a massive confidence booster for us. To beat City twice is no easy feat," he said.

Premier League: Tottenham goal at Stoke awarded to Harry Kane
Tottenham's Harry Kane has been awarded Spurs' second goal in Saturday's 2-1 win at Stoke after a successful appeal. The Premier League goals accreditation panel had initially given it to Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen. It said the decision had been reversed "after taking the player's testimony into account and reviewing the match footage". England striker Kane's tally for the season is now 25 - four behind Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. The Premier League said a three-person panel agreed that "the final touch on the ball belonged to Kane".

Man City v Liverpool: Pep Guardiola's team will have shackles off - Jermaine Jenas
So far, the biggest week of Manchester City's season has been a failure - but they still have the chance to change the way it ends. They trail Liverpool 3-0 after the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final but if I was a City player, would I still believe they can get through? In that team, 100% yes. At their best, City are so good going forward that I think they are capable of getting the result they need on Tuesday night - and that is the mindset they will have too. City have had so much disappointment over the past few days but they are not out of Europe yet. They know exactly what they have to do, and the shackles will be off - they will throw everything they have got at Jurgen Klopp's side from the start. It will be very interesting to see what Liverpool do in response. Their back-line has been getting a lot of praise lately, but it is going to get a real test at Etihad Stadium. The first 20 minutes are going to be so important in deciding the outcome - and if City get a early goal their confidence will soar and I think they will go on and get the other two. Whether they can keep Liverpool out at the other end is another matter, but the basis for any argument City will go out is that Liverpool will score an away goal - not that Pep Guardiola's side won't get at least three.

Scunthorpe United: League One play-off hopefuls sack Graham Alexander
League One play-off hopefuls Scunthorpe have sacked manager Graham Alexander after eight games without a win. A draw with strugglers Rochdale on Saturday left the Iron fifth, two points above seventh-placed Plymouth with seven games remaining. Alexander had been manager at Scunthorpe United for two years and led them to the play-offs last season. "The club would wish to place on record their appreciation of Graham's efforts," the club said. Assistant manager Neil McDonald has also left the club.

Wigan Athletic: Promotion is in our hands says Paul Cook
Wigan manager Paul Cook says "promotion is in our hands" after the Latics moved up to second in League One. Cook's side won 2-0 at Bury on Saturday to move one point above third-placed Blackburn with a game in hand. The Latics remain one point behind leaders Shrewsbury, but they have played two games fewer after reaching the sixth round of the FA Cup. "I think, for any team, when you've got it in your own destiny it's important," Cook, 51, told BBC Radio Manchester. "I've seen promotions now for a number of years and different stories with success and failures for everyone, there's a lot of football to be played." Both Wigan and Shrewsbury are unbeaten in their past six League One games, while Blackburn have the longest unbeaten run in the division, having not lost in their past seven fixtures. "I just wish Shrewsbury or Blackburn would go away. I think the rest of us would be quite happy then wouldn't we," Cook joked. "I think you've got three teams who are having exceptional seasons and unfortunately in football someone will miss out."

Oxford United: Karl Robinson 'anger' over Alex Mowatt sending off at Portsmouth
Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has labelled Portsmouth midfielder Nathan Thompson's behaviour "unacceptable" in their 3-0 defeat at Fratton Park. Thompson ran to goad Oxford's Alex Mowatt after he missed a second-half penalty when the score was only 1-0. Mowatt was sent off after pushing Thompson in the face, but the Pompey player was not shown a second yellow card for his part in the incident. "I'm angry," Robinson said. "The referee has cost us the game." Oxford had to play the remaining 28 minutes with 10 men, and Portsmouth made sure of all three points thanks to Brett Pitman's two close-range goals. Thompson had been booked in the first half by referee Charles Breakspear for a foul on Oxford forward James Henry, but escaped further punishment in the melee after Mowatt's penalty miss. "He's run fully 20 yards to stand in Alex's face and goad him," Robinson told BBC Radio Oxford after his first game as Yellows manager. "I've not seen that for a long, long time. That's a booking, he was booked in the first half and apparently he's told my players on the pitch that he's booked him then too." Breakspear actually booked Portsmouth goalkeeper Luke McGee for dissent instead of Thompson. "What Nathan did today wasn't acceptable on a football pitch," Robinson added. "If one of my players did that, I'd tell them the same and reprimand them accordingly." Portsmouth assistant manager Joe Gallen admitted he did not see the aftermath.

Scunthorpe United: Chairman Peter Swann says players let Graham Alexander down
Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann has said some of the players should feel "guilty" about Graham Alexander's sacking as manager. Alexander left the club on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Rochdale. Despite the result leaving them fifth in League One, Swann felt the team's form meant it was the correct decision. "I think our run of games and the fact we only had five points from our last eight made me feel it was the right time," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "It's been difficult but I thought it was the right time. We gave Graham every chance to succeed but I felt a change was needed to maybe get us over the line. "I live and die by these decisions. I always try and give managers as long as I can." He added: "Certain players have not performed to their standards and have let the manager down. Hopefully a few of them will feel a bit guilty and it is down to them to turn it around." Coaches Andy Dawson and Nicky Daws have been placed in charge of the Iron on a caretaker basis.
