Chelsea 1-1 Inter Milan (5-4 on penalties): Cesar Azpilicueta scores decisive penalty
Cesar Azpilicueta marked his first Chelsea appearance since returning from the World Cup with the decisive penalty against Inter Milan as the Blues ran out 5-4 winners after a 1-1 draw. Pedro put Chelsea ahead in the International Champions Cup tie in Nice after Alvaro Morata had forced a save. Chelsea peppered Inter's goal with 10 shots in the opening half without adding to their lead. Inter forced a penalty shootout after Roberto Gagliardini equalised. Relive the action from Chelsea's penalty shootout win Spain defender Azpilicueta, who did not play a game in Russia, was one of a number of players making their first Chelsea appearance since returning from the World Cup. Willy Caballero (Argentina), Antonio Rudiger (Germany), Victor Moses (Nigeria) and Andreas Christensen (Denmark) also came on against Inter. However, France World Cup winners Olivier Giroud and N'Golo Kante were absent, as were Belgium duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois. Other absentees included Gary Cahill and Willian. Chelsea started with the same side that began the 1-0 friendly win over Perth Glory in Australia on Monday, with Cesc Fabregas named as captain. Seventeen-year-olds Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi again got the nod from new boss Maurizio Sarri, along with 18-year-old Polish keeper Marcin Bulka, as new 38-year-old signing Robert Green watched from the bench. More frustration for Morata Chelsea should have been out of sight by half-time before fading after the break. Even before Pedro's eighth-minute goal, Ross Barkley had forced Samir Handanovic to save with his leg before Alvaro Morata had a header ruled out for offside. Morata found the net 11 times in the Premier League last season but ended the campaign without a goal in his final six top-flight games. The 25-year-old Spain forward did well to keep the ball in play leading up to Pedro's goal but was unable to maintain his promising start to the match and was replaced after 65 minutes. Jorginho forced a fine one-handed save from distance on his second appearance since joining from Napoli. The Italy midfielder calmly scored Chelsea's first penalty during the shootout with Danny Drinkwater, Moses and Tammy Abraham also netting from the spot. Caballero used his legs to keep out Inter's Milan Skriniar before Azpilicueta's winning kick. Chelsea continue their International Champions Cup campaign against Arsenal in Dublin on Wednesday (20:05 BST) before next Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley (15:00). Sarri's side round off their pre-season preparations at Stamford Bridge against Lyon on 7 August (20:05) - four days before their opening Premier League game at Huddersfield on 11 August (15:00).

Man Utd: Jose Mourinho hoping for one more signing before window shuts
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he hopes one target from the list of five options he gave the club will arrive before the 9 August transfer deadline. Mourinho made the comment during a tetchy 10-minute post-match news conference following United's 4-1 International Champions Cup defeat by Liverpool at Ann Arbor, in which he also said: If he was a fan, he would not have paid to watch these teams The match against Liverpool "gave me nothing at all" The referee thought he was officiating a baseball game Antonio Valencia had "too much holiday" and returned in poor condition Mourinho's list of transfer targets is understood to relate to central defence, an area in which he is particularly keen to strengthen. United have been linked with Leicester's Harry Maguire and Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld, while Mourinho has expressed an interest in Real Madrid's Raphael Varane, Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng and Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar. The Portuguese dismissed any chance of making the second signing he feels he needs. "I would like two more players. I don't think I'm going to have two," he said. "I think it's possible I'm going to have one. "I gave my club a list of five names a few months ago. I wait to see if it's possible to have one of these players

Man City 1-2 Liverpool: Mohamed Salah & Sadio Mane score in Reds win
Mohamed Salah wasted no time in returning to goalscoring form as Liverpool came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1 in New Jersey. The Egypt forward, who scored 44 goals in 52 games for the Reds last season, equalised Leroy Sane's second-half goal barely a minute after coming on as a substitute in front of a 52,000 crowd. Salah had another header cleared off the line and hit the bar. Sadio Mane's injury-time penalty won the International Champions Cup match. Salah and Senegal forward Mane were both playing for the first time since their countries were knocked out of the World Cup at the group stage. City's Bernardo Silva - whose Portugal side went out at the last-16 stage - made his first pre-season appearance, but the Blues are still without 15 other players who were on duty in Russia. "It is incredible what we have done with the players we have for 75 minutes against the Champions League finalists," said City boss Pep Guardiola after the game.

Maurizio Sarri: Chelsea boss wanted 'whole Napoli team' says Aurelio de Laurentiis
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wanted to "dismantle" Napoli's team by taking players with him, says the Italian club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis. Sarri has taken charge at Chelsea this summer after three seasons at Napoli, and midfielder Jorginho has also left the Serie A side to join the Blues. De Laurentiis says he consulted new manager Carlo Ancelotti before sanctioning Jorginho's departure. "[Sarri] wanted to take my whole team to England," said De Laurentiis. He said he had to "lay down the law" to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. De Laurentiis, speaking to Sky Sports Italia, added: "He wanted Jorginho and I gave him away after I talked to Ancelotti, who told me he was banking a lot on [Amadou] Diawara and that he wanted to play [Marek] Hamsik deeper." Sarri led Napoli to two second-place finishes in his three seasons, and De Laurentiis took exception to the 59-year-old's take on their parting. "I didn't like it when he said that we both made mistakes," said De Laurentiis. "I don't think I made any. "I wasn't wrong not to challenge him even if it would have been the most obvious thing."
